Robert Shaw, a resident of Macomb, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, in Clinton Township, Michigan, at the age of 79. Born on June 3, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, Robert lived a full and joyous life surrounded by family and friends.
A devoted husband, Robert was married to his loving wife Mary for 53 years. Together, they raised two sons, Justin Shaw (Kelly Brengle), and Jonathan (Heather) Shaw. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Juri and Jordan, who brought immense joy to his later years.
Robert is also survived by his sister-in-law, Cynthia Rosbrook, and his dear nieces and nephews: Christopher Rosbrook (Anna), Vincent Gunville (Christy), and Lindsay Taliaferro (Brett). His family meant the world to him, and he treasured every moment spent in their company.
He was predeceased by his beloved sister, Elaine Gunville, and his brother-in-law, Dave Rosbrook. Robert was also preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Helen Shaw, who guided him with love and wisdom throughout his life.
A proud veteran, Robert served his country with honor in the Army. His dedication to service continued in civilian life, where he became an active member of both the 3rd and 4th Degree and Color Guard of the Knights of Columbus, St. Isidore Council. Robert also served as an usher for St. Isidore. His passion for camaraderie with fellow automobile enthusiasts led him to the “Fun Time Cruzers” car club, where he spent many joyful days sharing stories and experiences.
Robert found great delight in simple pleasures, such as going to the movies with Mary and watching WWE wrestling. He cherished the time spent indulging in these interests, often surrounded by the love and laughter of family and friends.
Though his physical presence will be greatly missed, Robert’s spirit will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. As they remember his kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion to family and friends, they take comfort in knowing that his legacy will continue to shine brightly.
Michael Roy Powell, born in Sandpoint, Idaho, on March 23, 1947, passed away on February 19, 2025, in Chesterfield Township, Michigan. He was 77.
A devoted family man, Michael was the loving father of Christopher (Karen), Nancy (Tom) Szabelski, and Jason (Anida) Powell. He was the cherished grandfather of Catie (Joe), Andy, Ben, Ian, Ava, Layla, and Adam, and took pride in being a great-grandfather to Maddie, Nora, and Atlas. His family extended further with his sister-in-law, Lois Powell, and nephew, Dan Powell. Michael was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary, and his brother, Charles “Buzz” Powell.
Michael served his country with honor in the United States Navy and was bestowed with the Purple Heart Medal, reflecting his bravery and dedication. His patriotic spirit was a hallmark of his life and he retained a profound respect for the nation he served.
Beyond his military service, Michael was an accomplished entrepreneur, proudly earning his CPA and making significant contributions to the manufacturing industry. He was a Past Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus and served his community through St. Vincent de Paul.
Golf was one of Michael’s great passions, as was traveling, particularly enjoying the warmth and beauty of Arizona. He was also known for his love of coffee and could effortlessly engage in lively conversations with anyone at any time.
Donald John Russell of Macomb passed away February 6, 2025 at the age of 81.
Donald was born on January 23, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Dorothy (Schoenrock) Russell. After graduating from High School Donald went into the Army and proudly serviced his country for three years. He served as a medic and was honorably discharged in 1968. On October 27, 1967 Donald married Beatrice Koerber at St. John’s Chapel in Big Rapids, Michigan. After over 30 years of service as a Health Inspector in Macomb County, Donald retired with a great sense of pride in his work.
He found joy in helping his community as a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Donald was a faith filled man and was devoted to his congregation and family. He had many lifelong passions for things such as hockey, Motown, and euchre. He loved his granddaughters deeply and was always their biggest fan.
Beloved husband of Beatrice; loving father of Jackie (Scott) Scheuerlein, Jennifer Russell and John Russell; devoted grandfather of Tammie (Paul) McGill, Elizabeth, Heather, Jenna and Jordyn; adored great-grandfather of Aliyah and Alaina. He was preceded in death by parents Dorothy and John, and brother Patrick.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Ernest Proof, a devoted family man, Vietnam Veteran, and esteemed member of his community. Richard peacefully entered eternal rest on October 4, 2023 at the age of 83, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Richard was born on March 14, 1940, in Sayre, Pennsylvania, to his loving parents William and Ruth Proof. From an early age, Richard’s strong work ethic and compassionate nature were evident, foreshadowing the exceptional life he would lead.
A true patriot, Richard proudly served his country in the military. During his time in Vietnam, he demonstrated bravery and selflessness, earning him the Bronze Star for his heroic service. His dedication to his fellow soldiers and his unwavering commitment to defending freedom were respected by all who served alongside him.
Beyond his military accomplishments, Richard was a man deeply rooted in family values. He met his beloved wife, Darlene, while both were serving in the military, and they began their lifelong journey together on April 15, 1964, in Rockford, Illinois. Richard and Darlene shared a love that was unbreakable, navigating life’s joys and challenges hand in hand.
Together, Richard and Darlene raised their daughter, Lisa, instilling in her the same values of love, loyalty, and dedication that defined their own relationship. Richard was a doting grandfather and great-grandfather, cherishing every moment spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether he was teaching them or simply sharing stories and laughter, Richard’s love for his family was boundless.
Richard was a devout Catholic and lived his life in accordance with his faith. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, attaining the distinguished rank of the 4th degree. Additionally, he embraced his military fraternity, maintaining lifelong memberships with the VFW, American Legion, and the Military Officers Association. Richard’s commitment to justice led him to serve as a criminal investigator for an impressive 26 years, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Richard was an active member of various associations, including the CID Agents’ Association, Chiefs of Police Association, American Society of International Security, Special Agent Association of Canada, Rifle Association, and the United States Concealed Carry Association. These memberships signify his dedication to public safety and the protection of others.
Michael John Jamula, aged 77, passed away surrounded by his family on August 30, 2024.
Born on November 6, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, Michael was the beloved son of Michael and Sally Jamula. A proud graduate of St. Andrew High School in Detroit, where he excelled in sports, particularly baseball, football, and basketball. Following high school, Michael served in the United States Army in Germany. He is a graduate of Central Michigan University.
During his high school years, he met the love of his life, Joyce Zwiernikowski. They married at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on April 29, 1967. Michael dedicated 37 years of his life to Chrysler Automotive, retiring in 2006.
A devoted family man, he was a pillar of support and guidance to his children Robert, Lisa, and Wendy. His true joy came from being an adored grandfather to his eight cherished grandchildren.
Michael devoted considerable time to coaching baseball and basketball, leaving a lasting impression on many young individuals. He was an active member of St. Isidore’s music ministry. He loved golfing with his ‘S.B.W.’ (Sure Beats Working) friends, organizing poker nights and trips to the casino.
Michael’s legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will forever be cherished by all those whose lives he touched.

William “Bill” James Camfield, at 67 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully on Thursday night, July 18, 2024 at his home with his family by his side.
Bill was born on March 23, 1957 in Mason, Michigan, a son of Eugene James and Mary Delores (Gabel) Camfield. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Bill married Karen Hodel on June 6, 1981 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is survived by his wife of 43 years: Karen Camfield of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Bill is also survived by he and Karen’s three children: Christine (husband Grant) Kowalski of Delaware, Ohio, Cathy Marrs of Richmond, Michigan, and Michael (Kelsey Turner) Camfield of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Two grandchildren: Juliana Marrs and Ava Marrs.
Siblings: Stephen Camfield of Lima, Ohio, Thomas Camfield of Indianapolis, Indiana, Michelle (husband Charlton) Browning of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Bill grew up in Indianapolis. He attended North Central High School and graduated in the class of 1975. After high school he attended Indiana University in Bloomington and graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Studies. He was in ROTC during his college days. He later graduated with a masters of science degree from Indiana Wesleyan in January of 1988. He graduated from college in 1980 and then was commissioned in May of 1980 to join the Army. Bill was a military man for his career. He was an Army officer who started off as an infantry officer and transitioned to a Military intelligence officer. He retired a Major in 2016. He also worked for Ford Motor Company as a supervisor in material control for five years. He was employed by the US Government in Macomb, Michigan as a G2 Intelligence and Security Foreign Intelligence officer. His career with military and government spanned more than 30 years.
Aside from his career Bill had many other hobbies and interests which included traveling, he greatly enjoyed reading, working in his workshop, as he was a very handy man. He also enjoyed watching movies, camping, riding his motorcycle and visiting with family and friends. Bill was a proud Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus in the Catholic Church, he was a church usher, an Eagle Scout, and a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. Bill loved playing with his grandkids.
Koehs, Michael David Age 67, passed away peacefully Monday, August 8, 2016, at his home in Macomb Township, Mich., after a courageous battle with cancer. Survived by his loving wife, Cheryl (Smith) Koehs; children, Michael (Jodi Harper) Koehs of Grand Blanc, Mich., and Julie Koehs (Bill) Tackett of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren Madeline and Catherine (CJ) Tackett, and Nick, Jackson, Matthew, and Chloe Harper. Also survived by brother, Ed (Brenda) Koehs, and sisters, Marcy (Tom) Romps, Connie (Jerry) Longsworth, and Kim (James) Allison; step-mother, Jean Koehs; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his mother-in-law, Josephine Smith; sisters-in-law, Dr. Jacqueline Smith, Cynthia (Paul) McNamara, and Deborah (Dan) Spellicy and families. Preceded in death by his father, Robert P. Koehs; mother, Eileen Mick Koehs; brothers, Robert Koehs Jr., James Koehs, and his father-in-law, Wilbur J. Smith.
A two-time Purple Heart recipient, Michael was a Vietnam veteran, and dedicated his life to public service – both as a retired Macomb County deputy, and 19 years as Macomb Township Clerk. He belonged to several organizations close to his heart: , VFW Post #7573, Knights of Columbus, 25th Infantry Division, American Legion, and a host of others.
Thomas John Gallagher of Clinton Township died at St. John Hospital in Detroit on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at the age of 77 years.
Tom was born on November 18, 1938 in Detroit. He was one of four children born to Tilden M. and Pearl M. (nee Chabot) Gallagher. On September 10, 1960, Tom married Mary Lou Najewski in Detroit. Just over a year later, Tom joined the United States Navy and received a Good Conduct Medal. Tom received an Associate’s Degree and with the tech training he received in the military became an X-Ray tech and eventually retired as the Director of Radiology from Detroit Receiving Hospital. He was also an instructor at Wayne State University for the X-Ray program. Tom enjoyed golfing, boating on Lake Ogemaw, visiting the family cottage in West Branch, hunting, and traveling. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church in Macomb Township. Tom loved spending time with his family and his dog, Bella. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.
Tom is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Louann) Gallagher, Cheryl (Rick) Schaerer and Christopher Gallagher; grandchildren, Brenna Schaerer and Maira Schaerer; siblings, Tilden (Olga) Gallagher and Joanne (John) Blahnik; furry companion, Bella; and many extended family and dear friends. Tom is predeceased by his wife, Mary Lou on December 12, 1990; brother, Michael Gallagher and parents, Tilden M. and Pearl M. Gallagher.
Charles “Chuck” P. O’Connor of Clinton Township (formerly of Detroit), age 77, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. He was the loving husband to Eleanor, father to Karen Mullins (Kenny Hare), Chuck (Jackie), Robert (Pam) and Kelli Bischoff (Scott), grandfather of Allison, Brendan, Kaylyn, Ella, Griffin and Adeline and brother of Betty (Pete) Toarmina, Jim (Joyce), Frank (Bernie) and Joe (Judy). Chuck is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Cynthia, siblings, Bill, Rosie Eichhorn ( the late Joe) and Mary O’Grady (the late Harold) and 4 nieces and nephews.
Chuck enjoyed bowling, baseball , euchre and football. He liked to drink Merlot with his daughters. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family especially his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Eugene Michael Hummer passed away on January 28, 2015 at the age of 76. He was the beloved husband of Carol Hummer nee Sienkiewicz of Wentzville, Missouri; He is survived by his three sons: Joseph (Kim), John & Robert (Dawn) Hummer; three daughters: Caroline (David) Rudnick, Sharon Hummer & Susan (Gary) Reese; sixteen grandchildren: Lauren (Sandy), Daniel, Alexandria, Holly, Jessica, Bradley, Samuel, Chelsea, Madison, Morgan, Megan, Carly, Olivia, Emily, Kacy and Sydney. He was preceded in death by his parents: Eugene Leon Hummer & Theodosia Hummer nee Bruder. Gene was married to Carol Hummer for 54 wonderful years. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed baseball, especially the Detroit Tigers, and he was a former bat boy for the team. Gene also enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, golfing and bowling. Gene was a fourth degree knight for the Knights of Columbus. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
John Ivan Bacic of Macomb Township died peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on late Saturday evening, September 27, 2014 at the age of 73 years.
John was born on June 1, 1941 in Lisicic, Croatia. He was the youngest of seven children born to Bozo and Grgica (nee Kardum) Bacic. On August 8, 1964, John married Helen Gasparovic at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Detroit. John was a hard working man and put 30 years of his life working for General Motors as an inspector before retiring in 2004. He was a member of St. Lucy Croatian Catholic Church in Troy; the Knights of Columbus; CCU/CFU and UAW Local 160. John enjoyed bowling but his passion was spending time with his grandchildren. He loved his family and was a true friend. John was a dedicated husband and family man. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Helen; sons, Michael Bacic and Frank (Jill) Bacic; daughter, Karen (Rudy) Gerich; grandchildren, Sydney Bacic, Ethan Bacic, Neven Gerich and Lauren Gerich; three brothers; two sisters; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. CWilliam “Bill” James was born October 12, 1924 to Jasper and Mary (Adragna) Frontiera, in Saginaw, Michigan. His parents had immigrated from Sicily to Saginaw where his father worked for General Motors. Bill was one of nine children.
Bill grew up in Saginaw and when World War II broke out, he joined the Navy. Bill was deployed to the Pacific where he saw action in the Philippines campaign. Bill would go on to enlist in the Navy three times and thus had the distinction of serving in three wars: World War II, Korea and Vietnam. In fact, being in the Navy brought him another bonus; he met his future wife when he recruited her for the women’s Naval reserves. The two were married July 1954. They raised their children all over the country, finally coming back to Michigan when he retired from the Navy. Not one to sit still, Bill worked and eventually retired from Chrysler.
Bill was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War, the Knights of Columbus, Council 7200 and the Fleet Reserve Association. In retirement Bill enjoyed cooking. Food is love, he would tell everyone. He was also known for his jokes.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Patricia; his children: Bill (Sylvia), Jr., Jason (Bonnie), Fred (Trish) and Kathleen (Matt) Finger; his grandchildren: Patricia (Joe) Cosens, Billy (Lisa) Frontiera III, Bobby (Brooke) Frontiera, Pam (Kenny) Torrence, Renee (fiancé Rob Charlick) Frontiera, Rebecca (Matt) Ceo, Joshua and Shana Frontiera, Melissa and Matthew Krzeminski and his great-grandchildren, Lilly, Ethan, Gianna, Joey, Asher, Camden and his siblings, Jim and Pete Frontiera, Josie Stumpo and Jeanette (Zena) Bosco.

Richard A. Schoenherr, age 75, a lifelong Macomb County resident, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township after a short illness. Dick was born March 29, 1938 in Warren, MI., the son of James & Mildred (Distelrath) Schoenherr. He married the former Sandra (White/Sadaj) in 1960 at St Clement Catholic Church in Romeo and she preceded him in death on May 31, 1996. After graduating from Romeo High School in 1956, where he played both football & baseball, Dick worked as a broach grinder for many years, starting with the Detroit Broach Company and after they shut down, worked for other companies in Macomb County as a broach grinder. But his love of life was farming, which he did his whole life, raising vegetables and field crops. His hobbies include golfing, hunting, being a past president and board member of the B & BS Gun Club in Ray Township, and a board member of the Davis Cemetery, also in Ray. Dick was also a member of St Isidore’s Catholic Church and a member of its Knights of Columbus, Council # 7200. Richard is survived by his children: Jeff (Margaret) Schoenherr of Ray, Robert Schoenherr of Wales Twp., Heather (William) Paquette of Clinton Township, Todd (Jennifer) of Imlay City, and Scott of Bruce Township. Grandchildren include Bradley, Tonia, Anthony, Nicole, Natalie, & Samuel with a great grandson Wyatt. Edward Christoff of Vanderbilt formerly of Ray Township passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012. Ed was born on November 8, 1915 in Detroit Michigan to Anthony and Rose Christoff. On February 18, 1938 he married Emily Zajac who preceded him in death on March 7, 2008. Ed was a lifelong farmer and was a member of Michigan Milk Producers Association. He was very involved in his community as he was a member of the Production Credit Association, Macomb County Soil Conservation District and a devout member of St. Isidore Catholic Church in Macomb Township. Ed was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, council 7200. After moving to Gaylord in 2004, Ed became a very active member at Holy Redeemer Church in Vanderbilt, Mi. Along with his loving wife, Ed was preceded in death by his parents; Anthony and Rose Christoff, and his brother Art. He is survived by his loving son, Gerald (Karen) of Gaylord; his granddaughters, Lynn (Larry) Price and Lashe Christoff of Pennsylvania and great grandson, Dane Free of Pennsylvania. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM from Holy Redeemer Church, Father David Dupuis, officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. VISITATION will take place at the Nelson Funeral Home on Thursday, August 9, 2012 from 4- 8:00 PM and will continue at the church on Friday beginning at 10:00 AM. A rosary will be offered, at the funeral home Thursday evening at 6:30 PM.
